These Photo Fusing workshops are held in two sessions (10am till 1pm) in the fully equipped studio classroom at Glass Studio Supplies based in Wickford, Essex. 

 

Photo Fusing on Glass Workshop

The workshop will be part demonstration and practical with the students having the opportunity to produce several images using different types of glass and techniques to produce a variety of images.  There will be two sessions covering all aspects of the process from printing, firing, image enhancement and finishing as follows: 

Session 1

Discussion and demonstration on:

  •   Materials and equipment required.
  •   Choice of image and preparation.
  •   Choice of glass and preparation.
  •   Transfer paper and image printing

 Class activity to print and transfer individual 4 images (approx. 7x5 size) to glass ready for firing.

  • Firing of image onto the glass.
  • Kiln preparation.
  • Firing schedules.
  • Images will be fired and ready for session 2. 

Session 2

Discussion and demonstration on:

 

  • Cleaning fired image.
  • Oxide darkening.
  • Backing and covering with frit.
  • Other decorative techniques.

 Class activity.

  • Assessment of fired images.
  • Backing and covering with frit.
  • Image darkening with cobalt oxide.
  • Firing schedules.
  • Images will be fired for collection later.

 (note: finished images can be posted on if they cannot be collected.)

 

The workshop includes all materials and equipment to produce up to 4 finished images approximately 7 x5 inches. Plus a copy of a Guide to Photo Fusing containing the topics covered by the workshops. 

 To ensure we have good images to work with participants should send me 2 or more images they would like to print prior to the course. These can be in any format ie. jpg, psd ,tiff, RAW etc and should, if possible, be un-edited copies of the original images.

When emailing images check your email settings to ensure they are sent at original size and not be re-sized to fit the screen.

 Fee for workshop £85.00 payable to Glass Studio Supplies.
